Dispatches from COP26: Just Transition or Just Talk?

The climate community is still analyzing and reviewing the outcomes from COP26. This summit can be extremely polarizing but as CIF CEO Mafalda Duarte explains it is crucial for climate leaders and stakeholders to discuss and understand important next steps. Right now, there must be an emphasis on fair and inclusive just transitions. Duarte looks at how just transitions were addressed during COP26 and how to better incorporate climate justice moving forward.

Coal Transition – ACT Now

It’s calamitous for our environment but global dependence on coal power is deeply entrenched through financial, social, legal, and political nuances. CIFs Accelerating Coal Transition (ACT) investment program offers a holistic toolkit to tackle three critical and deeply inter-linked challenges associated with a transition away from coal: governance, people and infrastructure. Learn how and why coal transition is both necessary and possible as we enter 2022.

Turkey: The Contribution Of The Clean Technology Fund To Energy Efficiency Goals

CIF has just published its new case study, 'Turkey: The Contributions of the Clean Technology Fund to Energy Efficiency Goals’ highlighting the progress being made in transforming the energy sector in Turkey. In 2009, a CTF country investment plan detailed a strategy that aimed to support increasing energy efficiency and improving renewable energy supply. Learn how CTF identified the energy sector as being key to the GHG mitigation interventions on the basis of its sizable contribution to Turkey’s GHG emissions, harnessed existing country expertise found within three collaborating multilateral development banks, and adopted an intermediated approach in two major EE initiatives.

CIF’s Renewable Energy Integration program (REI)

CIF’s Renewable Energy Integration program (REI) helps address system wide barriers and supports countries as they transform their energy systems to absorb ever-growing levels of variable renewable energy generation. REI works through national and regional investment plans that address both the policy and market barriers preventing further penetration of renewable energy into the grid. Working at every level, REI allows for a more smooth and easily accessible energy integration transition.
