The biggest biodiversity conference in a decade, COP15, wrapped up with progress towards protecting 30 percent of the world’s terrestrial and marine habitats by 2030, also known as the 30x30 goal. CIF joined to share learnings from the Forest Investment Program, Dedicated Grant Mechanism, and discuss the Nature, People and Climate investment program.
Too often, climate change and biodiversity loss are framed as distinct challenges, when the reality is that they are inextricably linked states CIF’s CEO Mafalda Duarte. We’re seeing in real time, the impacts of rising temperatures on animal species and the natural habitats they call home.
Late last year, CIF and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), held an interactive online workshop on basic tools and resources to help young people engage in climate finance. Designed by youth for youth, the workshop drew upon skills of four members of CIF’s internship program. Over two days, the workshop featured formal presentations, testimonies, networking opportunities and quizzes.
