Storm Recovery Updates

"We owe a huge thanks to the public servants who risked their lives protecting New Yorkers. FDNY, NYPD, NYC Emergency Management, and more performed water rescues, and MTA employees worked through the night to get New Yorkers home safely. Thank you to all who stepped up." - NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio

See below for a list of updates and resources pertaining to this week's devastating storm. Please note that the situation is changing rapidly as NYC continues its recovery efforts. For up-to-the-minute updates, follow
@nycemergencymgt and @nycgov on Twitter or visit the NYC Emergency Management website.

Transit:

  • The MTA has worked to restore subway service on almost all lines, however, service may not be frequent. Some lines have extremely limited service, including the 3, B, D, R, N, W, and F. Please avoid non-essential travel until further notice.
  • As of the morning of September 3rd, the 6 remains partially suspended.
  • In Queens, consider LIRR if possible. LIRR is accommodating MetroCard holders/OMNY users at no additional cost between Penn Station and Jamaica, Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Queens Village, Hollis, Rosedale, Laurelton, Locust Manor, and St. Albans.
  • LIRR Port Washington train service has resumed in both directions. Expect residual delays. Learn more.
  • All Amtrak Empire service is suspended between New York City and Albany on Friday, September 3rd. Consider alternate routes. For more information, click here
Parking:
  • Alternate Side Parking rules will be suspended through Wednesday, September 8 to facilitate storm response and for scheduled suspensions. Parking meters will remain in effect except on Monday, September 6, when they are not in effect for Labor Day.
Disabled Vehicles:
  • If you left a disabled vehicle on the highway or a NYC street due to flooding, contact 311 to find out where your car has been relocated to.
Power Outages
  • Con Edison plans to finish 95 percent of power restorations to customers by the night of Friday, September 3rd. For more information, click here.
Small Businesses
  • If your business has been impacted by the storm and needs assistance, please fill out the intake form at nycsmallbusinessresourcenetwork.org to learn more about free available resources.
  • Impacted businesses can also contact their local Chamber of Commerce for support:
- Bronx: Helpdesk@bronxchamber.org
- Brooklyn: info@brooklynchamber.com
- Manhattan: Recovery@queenschamberorg
- Staten Island: Businesshelp@sichamber.com

Trash and Recycling Pickup:
  • Trash and recycling pickup are ongoing but delayed. You can put items out according to your schedule. NYC is canvassing areas affected by floods and conducting debris removal operations.
  • You can put out storm-related debris for pickup as needed and you don't need to wait for your normal collection day, however, it may several days for NYC to completely remove debris.
