NYC Veterans:
Speak Up About the Future of Your City

How should the new Mayor and his team approach issues like schools, streets, safety? How should they approach challenges like COVID-19 and climate change? Fill out the NYC Speaks Survey by January 28th to make your voice heard.

The NYC Speaks Survey will help inform the priorities and policies of our new Mayor, Eric Adams. The survey touches on health and wellbeing, economic vitality, workforce development, public safety, housing, education, youth development, arts, climate, infrastructure, equity, racial justice, and gender justice. It takes 5 to 20 minutes to fill out, depending on how many of the issues you want to weigh in on.

Make your voice heard by taking the NYC Speaks survey today.

Service2Service:
Professional Mentorship Program

Through the Service2Service (S2S) program, New York City government employees serve as professional mentors to veterans and Americorps alumni. The S2S program builds relationships between service-minded New Yorkers and empowers veterans and Americorp alumni with the network to continue a legacy of service in the City, as well as a deeper understanding of the inner workings of municipal government.

The S2S program combines one-on-one mentorship with virtual workshops. Each mentee and mentor pair commits to a minimum of bi-monthly, one-on-one mentoring sessions from March-August 2022.

NYC residents who are veterans or who have completed an AmeriCorps service term can apply here to become an S2S mentee! New Yorkers who are currently employed by the NYC government can apply here to become an S2S mentor.

The deadline to apply
is February 8th, 2022.

Learn more about the S2S program here.

Upcoming Virtual
Veterans Advisory Board Meetings

The Veterans Advisory Board (VAB) is a group of veterans appointed by the Mayor and the Speaker of the NYC Council to advise the NYC Department of Veterans' Services (DVS). The VAB holds meetings throughout the year to hear directly from NYC veterans and their families. Community members who participate in these public meetings help shape recommendations for NYC policymakers.

You are invited to join the next Veterans Advisory Board (VAB) virtual meeting on Wednesday, February 9th!  For more information, including how to join, click here.
