All NYC Adults Are Now Eligible for
COVID Vaccine Booster

Booster Eligibility Expanded

A COVID booster shot is an additional dose of a vaccine given after the protection provided by the original shot(s) has begun to decrease over time. The booster is designed to help people maintain their level of immunity for longer.

All New Yorkers 18 and up can now get a COVID-19 booster shot for all three approved vaccination types - if they received Moderna or Pfizer over six months ago or Johnson & Johnson over two months ago. You can also choose to get Moderna or Pfizer as your booster if you initially received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Visit nyc.gov/vaccinefinder to find a vaccination location near you.

Children are Eligible for Initial Vaccine Doses

Children ages 5 to 11 are now eligible for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine! Vaccine teams will be back in DOE schools the week of November 29th to administer first and second doses for children ages 5 to 11. Visit schools.nyc.gov/covid19 to learn more and find a school vaccine site near you.

A $100 individual incentive is available to children who get vaccinated at a school or City-run site. For more information about vaccines and children, families can go to nyc.gov/covidvaccine and see this FAQ.

Staying Safe this Holiday Season

As Thanksgiving approaches, please review the following recommendations to keep you and your family safe from COVID-19:

  • Wear a mask at indoor gatherings if you are not vaccinated.
  • Get vaccinated or boosted ASAP - even if your gathering is only days away. You'll start to build immunity whether it's your first dose or your booster.
  • Testing before and after gatherings or travel adds one more layer of safety and is widely available across NYC. You can find testing locations at nyc.gov/COVIDtest.
  • Take extra precautions if you’re with a mix of vaccinated and unvaccinated friends or family. Plan around the most vulnerable member of your group. Gather virtually or use masks and distancing to protect them.
  • Stay home if you’re feeling ill. Don’t gather or travel even if you’ve made plans. If you’re feeling OK and do plan to travel, keep your mask on and wash your hands frequently. Make sure you know what COVID transmission looks like at your destination.

Providing Turkeys to Veterans in Need

Earlier this week, the NYC Department of Veterans' Services distributed 500 turkeys to 15 Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs) across NYC. • American Legion Post 1871
  • Samaritan Village
  • Bronx VA Hospital
  • Black Veterans for Social Justice
  • Genesis II
  • Jericho Project
  • Service for the Under Serviced
  • Mu Beta Phi Military Fraternity

Special thanks to U-Haul and HelloFresh for making this possible.
