Message from Commissioner Hendon

Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of VE Day

Seventy-five years ago, on May 8th, 1945, the bells of liberty rang marking Allied victory in Europe and the unconditional surrender of the Nazi Party during World War Two – a war that killed an estimated 75 million people. This includes six million European Jews and five million non-Jews in the Holocaust.

See DVS Commissioner James Hendon’s special message commemorating VE Day and the heroes who fought to preserve liberty and freedom here and around the globe.
