Veterans Advisory Board Meeting

The Manhattan Veterans Advisory Board Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 20th at the David N. Dinkins Manhattan Municipal Building (1 Centre St., New York, NY).
This is an opportunity for veterans and their families to advocate on behalf of their community. VAB meetings are open to all including veterans of any service era or discharge status, family members, and supporters. No RSVP required.

The Veteran Peer Coordinator (VPC) provides peer-to-peer housing assistance for homeless veterans and connects at-risk veterans to permanent housing and support services. To apply visit nyc.gov/careers and search for Job ID #420226

Brooklyn Veterans Appreciation Parade

The NYC Veterans Committee, NYC Community Board 3, and NYC Community Board 16 will hold their first-ever Veterans Appreciation Parade on November 2nd, 12-4 pm. The parade route will run from Robert Fulton Park on Stuyvesant Ave to IS 271 on Saratoga Ave.

Bronx Veterans Day Parade

The Bronx Veterans Day Parade will be held on November 2nd, 12-5 pm. The purpose of the Bronx Veterans Day Parade is to honor our local veterans and military personnel while raising community awareness of their sacrifices, ongoing needs when they return home, and the available supportive services. The parade will include veterans, service members, elected officials, community leaders, service organizations, marching bands, and associated participants.

The Queens Veterans Day Parade will be held on November 3rd, at 12 pm. The parade route begins at 80th St & Metropolitan Ave and concludes with a commemorative ceremony at Christ the King Regional High School.
Throgs Neck Veterans Day Parade

Sunday, November 10th | 12 pm - 3 pm
The 34th Annual Throgs Neck Veterans Day Parade kicks off November 10 at 12 pm. The parade begins at Lafayette & E. Tremont Ave and travels down Randall Ave to Bicentennial Veterans Memorial Park. The 2019 Veterans Day Parade will be held on November 11th. The opening ceremony begins at 11 am with a moment of silence to commemorate the precise moment of the Armistice that ended World War I. The parade follows at approximately 12:00 pm along 5th Ave.
Spectators are encouraged to gather to show their support along the parade route. The parade will be live-streamed at parade.uwvc.org/watch-the-parade. Visit uwvc.org for additional information and updates.

This year, mark the 100th anniversary of Veterans Day with Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), the nation’s leading post-9/11 empowerment organization. Veterans, family members, and supporters are invited to march with IAVA during the New York City Veterans Day Parade!
Breakfast will be held at Flatiron Plaza, followed by contests and a parade up 5th Avenue.

Voices From War: Stories & Conversations on Transitions

Voices From War presents Stories & Conversation on Transitions on November 9th at 2 pm.
The event will feature six original narratives that explore the many ways military service shapes lives. Following brief readings, panelists will discuss the power of writing and multiple perspectives on transitions within veteran communities.
Featuring four recent Voices From War workshop participants, plus instructors, novelist Siobhan Adcock and veteran-writer Drew Pham. Joined by moderator Kara Krauze, founder and director of Voices From War.

Veterans and Resource Job Fair

The Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum will host its inaugural Veterans Job and Resources Fair on Friday, November 15th. Free Preventative Dental Care
For the month of November, all preventative services at the Plaza College Community Dental Clinic will be free of charge (regardless of need) for veterans and their immediate family members. Please call 718-779-1432 to make an appointment (advanced appointments required).
