We're thrilled to highlight our first four filmmakers, out of twelve, for this year's CineVet Film Showcase! These artists embody the values, camaraderie, and creative vision that we seek to uplift.
Andrew Coughlin, The Small Hours - Andrew Coughlin is a self-taught filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Originally from the Midwest, he began making short films in 2012 and has since completed thirteen projects, ranging from dialogue-driven narratives with small crews to deeply personal solo works created entirely on his own.
Ryan Begay, Honor Song - Ryan Begay (Diné) is a U.S. Air Force Veteran, filmmaker, and actor. His experience ranges from short films to feature films and commercials. Ryan continues to write, direct, act, and develop ideas for a stronger Diné/Native American presence in Film and Television both in front of and behind the camera.
Andrew Wiscombe, Lovely Lola Jean - Andrew Wiscombe, a former Army Sniper turned Berklee trained award-winning songwriter. Whether singing through the eyes of a child, the hands of a hard-working family man or through the scope of his sniper rifle, Andrew has a story to share that will resonate with the most human parts of the listener.
Jon Navarro, Solëdad - Jon Navarro, a U.S. Army Veteran with 14 years of honorable service, discovered filmmaking when a friend invited him to set one day and he quickly became enamored! As a Brooklyn-born filmmaker, Navarro celebrates his Puerto Rican heritage and highlights BIPOC-centered narratives through his award-winning short films, including The Gypsy and Enlisted.
Stay tuned next week to hear about our next 4 highlighted filmmakers! And, we can't wait to see you October 24th at Lincoln Center's Bruno Walter Auditorium!
