The Written Informed Consent Act requires doctors at the Department of Veterans Affairs to follow the same protocols when prescribing medications with risks of addiction and significant side effects as they do now when writing pharmacy orders for opioid painkillers.

The new requirement would cover specific drug types spanning dozens of medications that are antipsychotics, stimulants, antidepressants, narcotics and anxiolytics (anti-anxiety medication). [READ MORE...]

A Message From Mayor Adams:
Each week DVS shares a brief update about how our administration is getting stuff done for New Yorkers.
Making this city more affordable means ensuring more New Yorkers have an affordable home to live in. The Adams administration is already the most pro-housing administration in city history — creating, preserving, or planning over 426,000 units of housing over the last 3.5 years, but under Mayor Adams’ leadership, we continue to build even more. Last week, the administration broke ground on the Brownsville Arts Center & Apartments project that will create hundreds of new affordable apartments for low-income households.
Week in Review | Sep 6 - Sep 12
The Adams administration is dedicated to cutting through the noise and delivering information directly to you and all New Yorkers.

Ryan Begay, Honor Song - Ryan Begay (Diné) is a U.S. Air Force Veteran, filmmaker, and actor. His experience ranges from short films to feature films and commercials. Ryan continues to write, direct, act, and develop ideas for a stronger Diné/Native American presence in Film and Television both in front of and behind the camera.

Jon Navarro, Solëdad - Jon Navarro, a U.S. Army Veteran with 14 years of honorable service, discovered filmmaking when a friend invited him to set one day and he quickly became enamored! As a Brooklyn-born filmmaker, Navarro celebrates his Puerto Rican heritage and highlights BIPOC-centered narratives through his award-winning short films, including The Gypsy and Enlisted.

Stay tuned next week to hear about our next 4 highlighted filmmakers! And, we can't wait to see you October 24th at Lincoln Center's Bruno Walter Auditorium!
