The Black 6 Project and Planet X hosts "Warfare" Watch Party
|
|
|
The Black 6 Project invites all Veteran and First Responders to a private watch party of the movie "Warfare" at their new studio in East Williamsburg.
Who: Military Veterans of all branches and eras and First Responders and those connected
What: The Black 6 Project is a Veteran Led Non-Profit that takes the experience of Veterans and First Responders and repurposes them for good in the fields of humanitarian aid and disaster relief.
Where: Planet X Studios - 180 Maspeth Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211
When: July 31, 2025 @ 1700 - Movie begins at 1800
Why: Directed by former Navy SEAL Ray Mendoza, Warfare is based on true events that took place in Ramadi, Iraq in 2006. The film has received recognition for its raw and accurate portrayal of combat, offering an unflinching look at the experiences of those who served on the front lines.
We understand that films like this can be emotionally intense and, at times, difficult to watch. That’s why we’re creating a supportive environment where Veterans and First Responders can view the film together — surrounded by those who understand and can relate to the experiences depicted on screen.
Light Food and refreshments will be served.

A new city initiative is helping veteran-owned small businesses thrive, and officials are encouraging more veterans to apply.
Former Marine Eric Powell, owner of Flickinger Glass in Red Hook, is one of the latest success stories.
After serving two tours of duty, Powell took over the historic Flickinger glass studio in 2022.
Thanks to the city’s “Boss Up” competition, run by the Department of Small Business Services, his business is now heating up and expanding on the Red Hook waterfront.
“It would have taken a lot longer and been a lot harder without the support from Boss Up,” Powell said. [READ MORE...]

A Message From Mayor Adams:
Each week DVS shares a brief update about how our administration is getting stuff done for New Yorkers.
|
|
|
Our administration works every day to make our city more affordable for working-class families. That’s why Mayor Adams’ “City of Yes for Housing Opportunity” has spurred the development of an unprecedented number of affordable apartments so more New Yorkers have a place to call home in our city. Last week alone, with the announcement of three major affordable housing developments in East New York, Clinton Hill, and the Lower East Side, we were able to start the process of bringing 678 affordable units that will house seniors, families living with serious mental illness or substance use disorders, and families with young children. By using city resources to build more for New Yorkers, we are making clear that New York City remains the greatest place to start and raise a family.
