SESSION TOPIC: “How Poverty Affects the Brain
SPEAKERS:  Catalina Angel, LSWAIC & Sarah Pulliam, LICSW, MPH
WHEN: Friday, June 26 from 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

When a child grows up in an impoverished environment it can impact the architecture of their brain, widen the achievement gap, and negatively affect their behavioral health. The third installment of “Why the Early Years Matter” later this month delves into this issue. The FREE webinar on June 26 is being led by Catalina Angel and Sarah Pulliam.

The training will focus on ending the cycle of poverty, the connection of trauma with poverty and development, as well as how a resilient community can mitigate the negative impacts of poverty.

Catalina is the Family and Child Counselor in Family and Community Services at ChildStrive. Sarah is the Director of Family and Community Services at ChildStrive, and sits on the steering committee for Homeward House, a United Way of Snohomish County CORE Collaborative. We are working in partnership with Snohomish County Early Learning Coalition for the FREE virtual sessions.

Everyone benefits as a community when children grow in supportive healthy environments. We hope you’ll join us for the webinar on June 26. It’ll be held through Zoom, so feel free to join us from the comfort of your home. After registering, you’ll be sent a link to the webinar. Hope to see you there!
