Dear Friends of the USS Constitution Museum,

Throughout the United States, countless citizens from all walks of life are generously volunteering their skills and energy as we work through the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic. Our talented team at the USS Constitution Museum is doing its part every day by providing all ages with educational and cultural enrichment programs such as our interactive game A Sailor’s Life for Me; Historian at Home video series; and weekly LEGO® Ship Shape Competition. For a comprehensive look at our offerings, please visit our website.

We are also extremely proud of the commitment displayed by members of our wider Museum family. One such member, Joe Cardona, an Overseer of the Museum, has established a charitable program to assist a local business. Of even greater significance is that the organization he’s providing financial support to is Fisher House of Boston, a charity that provides a home away from home for veterans and their families who come to Boston for medical treatment at its wonderful hospitals.

Museum Overseer Joe Cardona's recent Instagram post introducing his fundraiser for Fisher House of Boston.

Joe understands service, commitment, and dedication to others. He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and now a player with the New England Patriots—facing challenges is part of his makeup. Inspired by the essay, A Message to Garcia, Joe has created a tee shirt emblazoned with Essential Together on the front and Thank You For Doing Your Job When We Need You Most on the back. All proceeds from the sale of these tee shirts go to helping veterans through Fisher House of Boston, and they may be ordered here.

The Museum is honored to be affiliated with the U.S. Navy, and indeed veterans generally, through the incomparable ship, USS Constitution. We believe learning—through study of the American experience—about service, duty, and dedication is a vital part of the Museum's mission.

With all best wishes,

Join the LEGO® Ship Shape Challenge
We are excited to have LEGO® clubs at several local libraries joining our weekly challenge. Here is what these librarians have to say about the Ship Shape Challenge:

We love the USS Constitution! Our patrons are always excited by the pass the museum provides as one of our summer reading prizes. Many families have enjoyed a visit over the years. The LEGO® contest is a great idea! The library is doing its best to engage our patrons digitally as well. I plan to add this to our Friday social media content. I think I will even build with my kiddo and post to both the Constitution's page as well as ours to encourage other patrons to join in. Thank you for hosting this!
– Sara Russell-Scholl from North Adams Public Library

Wonderful! I'll share it to our facebook page tomorrow. Thank you- there are a lot of digital initiatives I've chosen not to share with patrons, not wanting to overwhelm, but I think this will have real offline appeal and be really engaging for kids.
– Rachel Silverman from Millis Public Library

Many of you have asked how you can support the Museum in this difficult time. Please consider making a gift to support the Virtual Museum today. Your generosity will sustain our commitment to preserve and to tell the inspiring stories of “Old Ironsides” today and for generations to come. You can support the Museum with a gift of any size to our Annual Fund here.

As Paul and Anne noted above, Museum Overseer Joe Cardona has partnered with our friends at Fisher House of Boston to support their important work to care for families of veterans who come to Boston for medical care.  Click here to purchase an “Essential Together” t-shirt and support Fisher House of Boston.
