Warmest Wishes This Holiday Season

Happy holidays and a happy new year to our entire museum family. The USS Constitution Museum appreciates your continued support!

As we reflect on this holiday season, we think of those that served aboard Constitution and how they celebrated the holidays in years past.

During USS Constitution's 1844-1846 World Cruise, her crew spent two Christmases away from home and their families, but that didn't stop them from celebrating the holidays. To learn more about the holiday festivities aboard "Old Ironsides" click here.

On Christmas Eve, Tuesday December 24, we will be closing at 2 p.m. and the Museum and the Ship are closed on Christmas Day, Wednesday December 25. Regular hours will resume on Thursday, December 26.

The Museum and Ship will also be closed on New Years Day, Wednesday, January 1.

LT William S. Bush Memorial Breakfast

On November 8, the Museum welcomed U.S. Marine Corps veteran and author Larry Kirby to discuss his personal experiences in World War II. The Bush Breakfast honors the memory of LT William S. Bush, who was the first U.S. Marine Corps officer to die in the War of 1812.

Larry enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942 and he served in the Pacific with the 3rd Marine Division. He fought in Bougainville, the liberation of Guam, and the battle of Iwo Jima.

Following his years of service and sacrifice, Larry published Stories from the Pacific: The Island War, 1942-1945, a personal memoir describing his time and service during wartime.

78th Anniversary of the Attack on Pearl Harbor

On Saturday December 7, guests gathered at the USS Constitution Museum to commemorate the 78th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor and honor those that lost their lives in 1941.

Museum Life Trustee and New York Times bestselling author William Martin offered his reflections about Pearl Harbor in monument and in memory, while paying tribute to those that lost their lives in the surprise attack by the Japanese. Afterwards, National Parks of Boston, Museum, and USS Constitution leaders led the group down to USS Cassin Young, where a wreath was laid near her stern.

Following the ceremony, visitors were invited to the Charlestown Navy Yard Visitor Center to listen and reflect on Pearl Harbor. A special showing of personal interviews and recollections were shown in the visitor center theatre.
