Highlights from eCommerce Week
Day 1
|
|
eCommerce Week kicked off today with two new eTrade Readiness Assessments for least developed countries. The reports, released today, gauge how ready Afghanistan and Bangladesh are to seize opportunities in the digital economy.
More 1,300 participants from 120 countries are gathering this week in Geneva, Switzerland, amid a new surge in global e-commerce sales, which grew by 13% to hit $29 trillion.
Yet just slightly more than 1% of all Aid for Trade development funding goes to the ICT-related projects that developing countries need to prepare for the digital transformation, raising the risk that businesses and people in these nations will be left behind.
The issue will be at the heart of this week's discussions.
