LAIKA RETROSPECTIVE

LAIKA, the Oscar® and BAFTA®-winning animation studio whose five films -- Coraline (2009), ParaNorman (2012), The Boxtrolls (2014), Kubo and the Two Strings (2016) and Missing Link (2019) -- have delighted fans and wowed critics, will present a day-long retrospective of its films at The Landmark theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, October 27th. In addition, an exhibition of LAIKA puppets and dioramas will delight fans in the Landmark lobby. The Landmark is located at 10850 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90064.
LAIKA President & CEO Travis Knight, who directed Kubo and the Two Strings, will introduce the screening and participate in a Q&A after the film. Writer/Director Chris Butler will do a Q&A after the screening of Missing Link. Admission is free.

Charlize Theron, Matthew McConaughey, Art Parkinson and George Takei lead an international voice cast in this story of a young boy named Kubo who must locate a magical suit of armor worn by his late father in order to defeat a vengeful spirit from the past. Won the BAFTA® Award and was nominated for the Golden Globe and two Oscars®: Animated Film and VFX, the first time in 25 years that an animated film had broken through in the VFX category. LAIKA was awarded a Scientific and Technology Oscar® for its innovation in Rapid Prototyping after the release of Kubo and the Two Strings.

Missing Link
From LAIKA comes the epic adventure Missing Link. Sir Lionel Frost, is a brave and dashing adventurer who considers himself to be the world’s foremost investigator of myths and monsters. The trouble is no one else seems to agree. As species go, Mr. Link, also known as Big Foot, is as endangered as they get; he’s possibly the last of his kind, he’s lonely, and he believes that Sir Lionel is the one man alive who can help him. Along with the independent and resourceful Adelina Fortnight, who possesses the only known map to the group’s secret destination, the unlikely trio embarks on a journey through which each finds their true identity and place in the world as they seek Link’s distant relatives in the fabled valley of Shangri-La.
