We wanted to let you know that there are two very important community meetings in Culver City this week that could really use your input.
6pm Tuesday:
Support protected bike lanes & bus lanes in Culver City!
First up is Move Culver City, the transformative project to install protected bicycle and dedicated bus lanes to Washington and Culver Blvd in and around Downtown Culver City. Thanks to the over 200 community members who responded to our call to action, the project passed City Council 5-0 with no changes to the design!
Nevertheless, large developers are still trying to water down the project, so our advocacy must continue at the third community virtual workshop TONIGHT, Tuesday February 23, 6-8pm.
Please attend the meeting and voice your support for the project and for installing protected bike lanes throughout its entirety. The designs for this version should already be finalized. But since this is a “quick-build” project, it will be continually updated as data is collected, so our advocacy can still positively impact the next iteration of the project.
To see the project designs, select version 4 of the draft design plan here.
6pm Thursday:
Support permanent, expanded Slow Streets in Culver City!
This Thursday February 25th at 6pm the city is asking for community input on the future of the Slow Streets program, and we need you to voice your support to expand and strengthen it. Please register below to attend the meeting and voice your support for a stronger, permanent, Slow Streets program for everyone in Culver City.
Talking points to advocate for a stronger Slow Streets Program:
Improve infrastructure: Slow streets signage should be stronger than just the existing sandwich boards which can be easily moved to accommodate cars.
Expand to other neighborhoods: The program has not expanded from the pilot program launched in four areas in October. Everyone in Culver City deserves access to the Slow Streets program.
Make Slow Streets permanent. Slow Streets have proven to be a safe, equitable, and climate-friendly way to keep streets accessible to everyone. It’s time to make Slow Streets a permanent program for our City, to continue making Culver City more livable long after COVID.
Forward this to friends and follow our socials below to keep up-to-date on the fight for safe, equitable streets!
