A parent tells us why he loves Quest. A Student Project Grant winner shares her exciting research. A riddle is waiting to be solved. Giving Tuesday reminds us all to be generous.

And more. So much more.

Sami tells us about the eye-opening research she's conducting on a vertical hydroponic farm in Jackson, Wyoming.
A Parent's Perspective

"The chance of your child thriving is exponentially greater at Quest."

- Jim Maronick, father to Sarah Maronick ‘19

How did you first hear about Quest?
When my wayward kid told me about it! I didn’t know anything about it, but the more I learned, the more impressed I became.

How would you describe Quest to someone who has never been?
Stunning, spiritual, inspiring, FUN, tons of stuff to do; to be; to grow and to learn. However, even with that, it's really the students that make the place. I can't say enough about how engaged, interesting, and fun these young people are.

Do you have a fond Quest memory to share?
I remember taking my daughter and her friends out to Howe Sound Brew Pub. It was so much fun, but also so interesting listening to them going back and forth, and really caring about each other as well as the conversations.

What would you say to other parents/students who are considering Quest?
The chance of your child thriving is exponentially greater at Quest. The atmosphere, the students, the opportunities to become a better person—it’s all there. Plus, you'll love to visit them in Squamish!

Sauna sessions
Saunas are my go-to whenever I feel run down... especially this time of year. They help you recover after intense physical exercise, flush out toxins, fight illness, and cleanse your skin.
A cup of Dreamcatcher tea by Lucas Teas
You just can't beat a good cup of tea! This one is an extra-dreamy blend of chamomile, mint, and rosehips. Excellent in the evening to help you relax.

(Stumped? Find the answer at the bottom of the newsletter.)
Give a gift. Help someone grow.

Today is Giving Tuesday, a global movement of charitable acts meant to inspire people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity in any way they can. Quest is Canada’s only independent, not-for-profit, secular liberal arts and sciences university. We receive no government funding and depend on tuition and donors. Your donations are a big part of everything we do! When you make a donation, you make a difference. Any amount has value. Because giving a little means a lot.

Celebrate Giving Tuesday with Quest.
I WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Take 5 with Krista Lambie
Interim Dean of Student Life

1.Where did you grow up and how does it compare to Squamish?

I grew up in a small town in southwestern Ontario. It was FLAT and SMALL, but like Squamish, it had a lot of good people committed to one another and to the community!

2.How would you describe your job to a child?

For students in elementary school, I'd say, "My job is like being the principal or vice-principal at a school for adults!” For students in middle and secondary school: "My job is to support student success both inside and outside of the classroom in a university. My team and I oversee many services and supports, ranging from counselling to career services.”

3.What was the last thing you Googled?

Best chess set for kids.

4.Favourite time of year and why?
Summer and sunshine.

5.What makes Quest special?
The place and the people.
