Tutor Tip from Dr. Marina Tourlakis
Life Sciences Tutor (Molecular Genetics)

It’s cold and flu season! We all know that illness can spread like wildfire in our collaborative environment.
Here are some tips on how to not catch Quest's November Plague:

1. Wash your hands often.
2. Don’t touch your face.
3. Get a flu shot. Here’s your chance to give back to your community and leave no safe harbour for the pesky influenza virus.
4. Sleep. We realize this is a losing battle for many of us, but it’s one of the most important things you can do to stay healthy.

What's the Word?

rain /rān/ noun
Similar-sounding words: rain is sometimes confused with reign
1. Moisture condensed from the atmosphere that falls visibly in separate drops
2. The price
we pay for living in such a green and gorgeous place
Quest Quotable
Take 5 with Sue O'Connell
Executive Assistant to the President and Secretary to the Board

1.If you got a lottery ticket and ended up winning $10 million—what would you do first?
Buy a house with a garage (very important part) and a backyard, and adopt a dog or two!

2.If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be and why?
I would be a deciduous tree – perhaps a sugar maple tree, because its seasonal leaf colour change is amazing! During Autumn, it can range from bright yellow to florescent red-orange; no two trees are the same. It changes with the seasons, just like us; we need to continually transform and adapt to change in order to grow.

3.What was the last gift you gave someone?
I sent a gift to my younger sister, Linda, in Ireland as she just recently had a baby girl.

4.In 5 words, what’s it like to work with George?
Interesting, challenging (in a good way!), educational, busy, fun.

5.What’s for lunch?
A tuna salad wrap and an apple with peanut butter.

Instagram Ever get tired of sitting in class day after day? Not here! Quest’s Biodiversity of B.C. class allows for real-world learning. Getting out in the field is one of the best tools we can use to provide our students with new opportunities for learning through experience.
