43 days until the Midterm Elections
Correction: The amount the Polk County Environmental Lands Acquisition and Management Referendum would cost homeowners was incorrect in last week's newsletter. The cost would be an average $30 per year. For more information on the referendum, which will be on the Nov. 8 ballot, visit Polk Forever.
Democrats and friends are invited to a Democratic Candidate Meet & Greet on Thursday, October 6th, 5:30 - 7:00 pm at Catapult-Lakeland, 502 E. Main Street, Lakeland, FL 33801. As my great aunt used to say, "Get a little Done Up and come have a Good Time Polk County style!"

(Please note, we are monitoring the weather conditions this week. We will send out notifications if events cause us to postpone.)

State and local Democratic candidates may be at the event in person or by Zoom. There will be good food, drink (alcoholic and non-alcoholic selections), music and great company.

Tickets are $100 per person. Click here to purchase tickets!! Or send a check to Polk County Democratic Party (by Friday, September 30th) to the following address (please indicate that the check is for tickets and give employment type and place of employment for campaign finance reporting purposes).

Help Get Out The Vote
Close to 30 Polk County Democrats attended in-person and virtually the BlueShift FL GOTV Roadshow in Lakeland to learn how to lead teams of volunteers helping voters turn out to vote!
With mail-in ballots going out this week, BlueShift FL, the Florida Democratic Party's coordinated campaign to help local candidates and turn out voters, is moving into the GOTV (Get Out The Vote) phase.

The campaign needs volunteers to 'chase votes', that is door knock and call registered Democrats and left-leaning no-party voters to make sure they turn in their ballots, vote early or vote on the day.

Turning out voters will mean local Democratic candidates,
such as Veysel Dokur, who is running for FL Senate Dist 12, and Markeishia Smith, who is running a countywide campaign to be elected District 4 Polk County Commissioner, will win.

Sign-up to one of the Polk County canvassing or phonebanking events below. All is required is 1-2 hours of your time during the week. Remember, we only have six more weeks before the election!

To canvass in North Polk County, click here.
