The second reason we should celebrate was the re-election of Lisa Miller to the Polk County School Board, during the run-off election. This was a non-partisan race that took a hard partisan turn, after the GOP endorsed and backed the hard-right County Citizens Defending Freedom (CCDF) organization's candidates. Lisa, who believed the race should remain non-partisan, did not seek our endorsement. She did allow us to recommend her to voters. We added her name to our voter guide recommendations and assisted in distributing her campaign material.
And, while not a local win, we should all celebrate with Democrats across the nation who helped secure the Senate. We remain hopeful there may be a similar victory in Congress. If not, we should still remain excited that the margin would be much less than expected, giving strength to our belief that more Americans support Democratic values than the Republicans would care to admit.
To help secure a truly successful Midterm for Democrats, consider supporting efforts in Georgia to re-elect Senator Raphael Warnock.
