WHAT'S AT STAKE IN OUR APRIL ELECTIONS AND BEYOND
While the impact is most immediately felt in Lake Wales, this is the plan for every municipality, county and state in our country. Share this information with everyone you know (especially voters) and don't underestimate the devastating effects this will have on democracy in our backyard!
Jack Hilligoss, Sr. Pastor at Highpoint Church & Mayor of Lake Wales, FL., shares his testimony about Liberty Pastors Training Camp. He explains how he took what he learned and implemented it at Highpoint Church and also became Mayor of Laken Wales, FL. http://LibertyPastors.com/

The video clips above and the audio that follows capture the same pre-sermon political speech that Lake Wales Mayor and Pastor of HighPoint Church Jack Hilligoss gave during last Sunday’s service.
In these clips, Hilligoss is apparently condemning Lake Wales taxpayers for raising questions about a privately-run, publicly-funded business “incubator” backed by more than $1 million in Lake Wales taxpayer money. That incubator is now under investigation by the Polk Tax Collector’s Office, according this article from the Lake Wales News.
[Update. This is a statement from Tax Collector Joe Tedder: “It’s not an investigation. Someone told us they didn’t think some of the businesses in the incubator had a business tax receipt, which is a license. It cost about $35. We would go and talk to the businesses and make sure they get a business tax receipt. We have done that and they’re all in compliance now. This is something we do all day long every day. To say it was an investigation is an overdramatization of the situation.”
Tedder acknowledged some businesses were out of compliance; but it seems to be semantical stretch, to say the least, to call this an “investigation.” It’s dishonest.]
And I’d encourage the public — not just in Lake Wales — to listen to Hilligoss here. It’s a useful window into a gross and thoroughly power-corrupted form of “Christianity” that people like Jennifer Canady want to impose on us all. It’s all gross; but here’s the key excerpt, where he makes the enemy clear to his flock:
They did that with the help of a group of people who are consistent agitators. And unfortunately some of the leaders of our city. And they do this often. They do it every election cycle. The Democratic Cub of Lake Wales. Prominent citizens, who made it very clear — they’ve made it clear — that don’t believe Christians have a place in politics or at the very least, you’re supposed to park your convictions at the door.
Hilligoss made no effort to explain why this incubator is a thing Christians should cheer and fight for with their convictions. It’s just much easier to hate and incite against Democrats than account for $1.2M in public money, isn’t it Rev?
Lake Wales is a mess I won’t try to fix
I would really, really, really, really like to stay clear of the space-bending gravitational pull of Lake Wales’ endless grievances against itself. Lake Wales is the most miserably divided community of its size I have ever seen. This is despite the efforts many good faith citizens I have come to know, love, and respect out there.
You know who you are.
I spent days of my life that I will never get back fruitlessly trying to solve fairly the charter vs. district school divide. I failed because nobody with any power out there wanted to solve it as much as I wanted to — or at all. They enjoyed the grievances too much.
That’s just the stuff I have some surface understanding of. The boiling hatreds underneath that … I can’t even begin to parse. So I will not be a regular on the Lake Wales beat if I can help it at all.
But multiple people sent me versions of this clip in dismay; and I felt some obligation to help. But I plan to run away as fast a I can after this. Please forgive me. I think I’ve done my time. LOL.
Can you imagine Lakeland Mayor Bill Mutz doing this from the Grace City pulpit?
Lake Wales could really really use a Bill Mutz as their mayor. Whatever my political and social differences with Bill may be — and they are real — I never doubt his heart. I never think he considers me “wicked” if I critique him. He would never denounce me or anyone he represents from the pulpit of Grace City Chuch, which he co-founded. Thanks for that, Bill. Our city is better for it. (So is your religion.)
Unfortunately for Lake Wales, they don’t have Bill Mutz, or Jesus.
Instead, they have Jack Hilligoss, a $1.2M “incubator,” and School Board Member Justin Sharpless, who attends Hilligoss’ church.
As I understand it, Justin tends to applaud his gross shepherd obediently, just like the rest of the congregation seemed to when Hilligoss was done. I sent Justin an email asking his take on his paster/mayor’s position on the “agitators.”
I got no answer. LOL.
Anyway, I’m glad this really isn’t my problem; but I feel for the “agitators” who would prefer their city not light their money on fire and must endure their mayor’s denunciation from the pulpit for that sin.

Donald Trump is now the last candidate standing for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024. Below are some talking points from the good people at MoveOn to use when discussing his candidacy with potential Republican voters.
Fascism is not a word we throw around lightly, but it is the reality we are facing if Trump wins a second term.
It doesn't just mean right-wing extremism; instead, fascism is a well-defined set of ideas that center on providing a dictatorial leader with enormous power while also ...
Rejecting democracy and the rule of law.
By refusing to accept the results of the 2020 election, Trump has already made it clear that he does not believe in our democracy. He has also promised to change government rules in ways that would allow him to unilaterally fire thousands of government workers he deems "disloyal" and install those who will do his bidding, the law be damned.
Defining one racial or religious group as superior to all others.
He has fully embraced white Christian nationalism, a political movement that seeks to turn the United States into an extremist Christian theocracy; has said that immigrants are "poisoning the blood of our country"; and even echoed Adolf Hitler by referring to his political opponents as "vermin."
Fomenting public rage by creating scapegoats and spreading conspiracy theories and misinformation about them.
Trump has worked to convince his supporters not to trust the mainstream media, priming them to reject the truth and accept a twisted version of reality that he weaves for his own benefit. He has repeatedly denied science and last week declared that he would withhold federal funding from schools that require childhood vaccinations. And, of course, he encouraged the deadly violence during the January 6 insurrection.
Relying on brute strength and violence to accomplish their goals.
During the uprisings following the murder of George Floyd in 2020, Trump reportedly believed that the protests made him look weak and asked his Joint Chiefs of Staff to have the military "just shoot [the protestors] in the legs or something." In a second term, he has also promised to invoke the Insurrection Act to give him the authority to mass-arrest peaceful protestors and has vowed to send the U.S. Army into large Democratically controlled cities to do his bidding.
Most frighteningly, when asked about the war in Gaza last week, Trump said ominously that "you've got to finish the problem," indicating he would support increasing attacks on Palestinians in the region.
Reinforcing a patriarchal power structure by stripping rights away from women, gender-nonconforming, trans, and nonbinary people.
Donald Trump has repeatedly bragged about being responsible for overturning Roe v. Wade by packing the Supreme Court with corrupt MAGA loyalists, and if elected, he will sign a federal abortion ban into law.9 He has also pledged to ban gender-affirming care for minors nationwide and supports the MAGA book bans that are attempting to silence LGBTQ+ voices and enforce a strict gender binary on children.10
There is no other word to describe all of these policies than fascism. Which is why we have to do whatever we can to stop Trump from carrying out his plans to dismantle our democracy by denying him a second term.
MoveOn spent months doing research and working with our data scientists to develop an ambitious electoral strategy to target the exact voters that we need to turn out in order to win—11 million of them, to be exact. We call them "surge voters," or voters who first became active after the 2016 election but have not voted consistently since then. According to The New York Times, these voters have been behind nearly every win for Democrats in the last two election cycles, which is why we have laser-focused on them for 2024.
