Polk County Democratic Party Weekly Digest: June 13-19, 2022

If you have not yet been engaged and prepared for the upcoming August 23 election, now is the time! This Election Day is for party primary races, as well as school board and several elected county seat races.
This week's action focus:
- We need Democratic poll watchers! With about 150 polling places in Polk County, we need volunteers willing to take some Zoom training from the Florida Democratic Party (FDP) and travel between several precincts to observe voting processes, to make sure that voters are being treated respectfully and that voting is going smoothly at these locations. Click here to register your interest of intent to be a poll watcher, with the FDP. Dates and times will be announced at a later date.
- The Polk County Democratic Party is also urging ALL voters to cast ballots in the other elections, especially the school board elections. We are urging members to get involved with the campaigns of Sarah Fortney, Sara Jones, Kay Fields, and Del Quary, in their respective school board district races. We believe these are the candidates that will best serve the true interest of students, their parents, and school staff.
- To vote in the primaries, you must be registered with a party. Ensure you are registered or encourage non-party affiliated contacts to register with the Democratic Party here.

Saturday, June 18, will be a busy day in Polk County. Polk Pride Week 2022 will culminate with Pride in the Park at Munn Park and Juneteenth Celebrations will be held at various locations throughout the county. (While Juneteenth is recognized on June 19, events will be held on June 18 this year. Last week's digest inadvertently advertised the wrong date for events.)
