Polk Democrats to take part in MLK Day events
Today marks Dr Martin Luther King Jr Day. To commemorate the day, a number of activities were held in Polk County this past weekend, and will continue through the week.
In Lakeland, the observance will culminate with the annual MLK Jr Day parade on Saturday, Jan 21, starting at 1 pm. Pat Jorgesen of the Lakeland Democratic Club is looking for volunteers to walk in the parade and help decorate the float, prior to the event. For more information and to express your availability, please email Pat at patjorgesen@gmail.com
The parade will feature more than 100 participants presenting the theme "Our history is our future — protect and preserve it." Willie Horton, a retired Detriot Tigers baseball player, has been selected as the parade's grand marshal.
