Sign up for annual Legislative Delegation Meeting
The annual Polk County Legislative Delegation Meeting will be held on Friday, Jan. 13 from 1:30-5 pm at the Polk State College Center for Public Safety, 1251 Jim Keene Blvd. in Winter Haven.
The public meeting allows citizens, elected officials, local governments and other organizations to address the delegation before the start of the legislative session in March.
Democrats, as well as club and caucus representatives, are encouraged to have their voices heard and sign up to speak before the delegation. To be placed on the printed agenda, contact Sen. Albritton’s office at kara@flsenate.gov or 863-534-0073. You will be emailed a presenter’s form with instructions, which must be returned electronically by 5 p.m. on Jan. 7. The form may also be mailed to 150 N. Central Ave., Bartow, FL 33830 by that date.
If you've never attended one of these meetings, you will learn a lot about our elected officials and how they interact with community leaders and what specific groups ask their legislators for consideration, money, or help.
The delegation includes Sen. Ben Albritton, R-Wauchula; Sen. Colleen Burton, R-Lakeland; Rep. Josie Tomkow, R-Polk City; Rep. Jennifer Canady, R-Lakeland; Rep. Sam Killebrew, R-Winter Haven; and Rep. Melony Bell, R-Fort Meade.
