I am very pleased to be asked to be the Chair of the Voter Protection Team for the Polk County DEC.
My parents came to Florida in 1954 from Puerto Rico, to work as farm workers in Homestead, before moving to New Jersey where I was born.
Raised in Brooklyn, NY, I attended George Westinghouse Vocational & Technical High School, where I studied electronic communications technology. I attended the College of Staten Island (City University of NY) where I majored in electronic technology.
I worked at the World Trade Center as an electronic technician for a security company. I also worked for Con Edison, a NYC power company, as a high voltage field technician.
In 1983, I joined the New York State Police until I retired in 2011. During my years there, I was on the mounted unit, boat patrol unit, traffic unit commander, warrant squad commander, investigator, court liaison officer, defensive tactics instructor, use of force instructor, recruit background investigator/commander, dispatch center commander, police academy instructor, supervisor, and chief executive officer.
In 2011, I moved to Poinciana, FL, with my wife and mother.
Shortly after arriving in Poinciana, I got involved in local community issues. I also started a Hispanic organization in the community. I was nominated by Commissioner Todd Dantzler to serve a term on the Polk County Community Relations Advisory Council.
I have been active with the Polk County DEC for about 5 years now. Currently, I am the precinct captain for #419 and on the Voter Protection Team.
