Per OMPA Guidance and Governor Inslee’s “Stay Safe, Stay Healthy” order KCD’s office is currently closed to the public and all staff are working remotely.

Ballots Now Available

Ballots were made available on March 1 at 8am via the online system. Ballots need to be returned electronically before 5pm on March 23, or postmarked by March 23 and received by King County Elections by March 26.

Eight candidates are running for Position #3 on KCD’s Board of Supervisors, currently held by Supervisor Jim Haack.

League of Women Voters of Seattle-King County to Host Candidate Forum

Hear from and ask questions of your candidates for the King Conservation District Board of Supervisors Position 3!

Supervisors serve a three-year term and oversee the operations of KCD. Board members contribute local perspectives on important natural resource management and conservation issues, seek feedback about conservation programs from KCD residents, set KCD policy, and direct KCD’s work plan and budget.

KCD Native Plant Sale Pickup March 5 and 6

The response to this year's plant sale was spectacular. Many of you are ready to get outside and put trees, shrubs and plants in the ground this spring!

Pickup is Friday, March 5, 1pm-4pm and continues Saturday, March 6, 9am-4pm  at the Tukwila Community Center (12424 42nd Ave. S., Tukwila, WA 98168). Please use the entrance on 42nd Ave. S. near the Allentown Bridge. Exit only onto S. 124th St.

REMINDER: No walk-up sales or Community Fair this year.

Please follow the safety guidelines to keep everyone safe.

  • Please wear a mask.
  • Please stay in your vehicle.
  • You will be directed to a parking space.
  • Your plants will be placed in your trunk or back seat.
  • If you need to get out of your vehicle to secure your plants or check your order, please maintain a 6-foot distance from others.
  • Please leave promptly after picking up your plants.

Due to COVID-19 Safety Protocols, no restrooms are available for use by pickup customers at the Tukwila Community Center.

If you have your Invoice Number(s) available, that will help expedite the pickup process. If you have questions, please e-mail plantsale@kingcd.org.

High School Natural Resources Competition Registration - Deadline March 24, 2021

Washington State Envirothon is an environmental and natural resource conservation competition for high school students.

KCD is recruiting King County educators and high school students interested in participating in this year’s competition. The registration deadline is Wednesday, March 24, 2021. As your local conservation district, KCD will be a helpful resource. KCD can help organize virtual presentations, curriculum and workshops with technical experts to help support teams through the Envirothon journey.

Online Sustainable Yard Care Classes

King County Wastewater Treatment Division is partnering with Snohomish Conservation District to offer an online series of five classes this winter all about creating a healthy, low-maintenance landscape. These classes will be geared towards those who are new to the concepts of sustainable yard care practices.
