The latest episode of IIED’s Make Change Happen podcast, Getting climate resilience right – the case for backing smallholder organisations, is out now.
The benefits of organisation, cooperation and support between – and for – smallholders are at the heart of this episode, which explores forest and farm producer organisations’ extraordinary capacity to build resilience in the face of climate change. In the context of 2021’s critical meetings on climate, nature, food security and economics, the guests also discuss the challenges local organisations face and ask whether the international community will match their urgency and commitment to with greater funding.
Hosted by Liz Carlile, the episode features these fantastic guests:
- Elizabeth Nsimadala – President of the Pan-Africa Farmers Organization (PAFO) and the Eastern Africa Farmers Federation (EAFF) and agriprenuer
- Duncan Macqueen – principal researcher and forest team leader, IIED
- Clare Shakya – director of climate change research group, IIED
The conversation also draws on two IIED research papers: Follow the money: tracking Least Developed Countries’ adaptation finance to the local level and Diversification for climate resilience: thirty options for forest and farm producer organisations (forthcoming in October 2021).
