IHC Summer Gathering

The Inter Tribal Resource Department at IHC hosted the IHC Summer Gathering on July 17, 2024, at the Roosevelt Community Center, creating an evening filled with fun and community spirit. Guests of all ages enjoyed a delicious BBQ dinner, refreshing beverages, and an assortment of delectable desserts. The event brought together friends and families in a warm, inviting atmosphere, making it a night to remember. With approximately 150 attendees, the gathering was a wonderful success.

Wellness Day
July 27th, 2024

On July 27th, the Community Wellness and Outreach program at IHC hosted a successful Wellness Day at the park, bringing families together for a day of fun and learning in the great outdoors. The event featured interactive activities, including fitness and nutrition demonstrations, with 30 participants joining in. Highlights included a food demonstration with a nutrition lesson from Registered Dietician Yume Le, engaging games, and a workout session led by our IHC Fitness Coordinator, Danny Borrego.

San Jose Native Youth Empowerment Group
|
|
For the month of July, our San Jose Native Youth Empowerment Group was taught how to make corn husk dolls! The youth transformed simple corn husks into uniquely crafted dolls and expressed their enjoyment in learning about the cultural significance of their creations.
Activities centered around cultural arts can significantly help youth with emotional healing, creative expression, and strengthen cultural connectedness!

Wrapping up our Youth Bike Repair Workshops, participants gained valuable skills in bike maintenance and repair. These hands-on sessions not only empowered them with practical knowledge but emphasized the importance of keeping your heart healthy, mind clear, all while reducing stress!
Bike repair activities also help individuals gain confidence, independence, and teach them healthy ways to stay active and cope with stress.
