Incident Update

Warehouse Fire in Greater Hobby Area
WHAT:
Warehouse fire
WHEN:
October 31, 2018 at 2:36 a.m.
WHERE:
6910 E. Orem, 77075
INJURIES:
3 civilians injured, with 2 of these individuals being transported to a hospital.
PROPERTY SAVED:
Nearly $5 million in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE:
More than $1 million in estimated damage.
CAUSE:
The cause was ruled accidental by HFD Arson investigators.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke coming from a very large one-story warehouse. The Hazardous Materials Team arrived and took readings and first responding crews were sent to decontamination. The warehouse contained chemicals, particularly epoxy resin to produce an end product.  A sprinkler system had helped to extinguish the fire and fans were used to push the remaining smoke out of the building. After Hazmat reported a zero reading, post decontamination was initiated and the incident was tapped out. Crews from Stations 36, 55, 23, 26, 70, 17, and 61; and HFD Hazmat and Rescue responded to this incident.
