Tragic House Fire in South Belt / Ellington Area

1 civilian fatality, 2 firefighters injured and treated on scene.

The cause is under investigation by HFD Arson investigators
|
|
|
Firefighters arrived on scene with heavy smoke coming from the front door and roof of a 2-story house. An off duty HFD Captain was already on scene and reported he had a victim trapped and needed help pulling her out of the home. She was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Firefighters began an offensive attack on the fire and shifted to defensive mode after the fire could not be extinguished in the attic. The was was controlled and HFD Arson was requested to determine the cause and origin. Crews from Stations 93, 70, 36, 52, 61, 94, 37 and Rescue 42 responded to this incident.
