Synagogue Fire in Meyerland Area
WHAT:
Synagogue Fire
WHEN:
November 28, 2018 at 9:14 p.m.

INJURIES:
No reported injuries
PROPERTY SAVED:
$240 thousand in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE:
$60 thousand in estimated damage.
CAUSE:
HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from a large Synagogue. The fire appeared to be in the attic and they made an offensive attack, ventilating the roof and conducting a primary search. The fire was controlled and all materials were either removed and given to the rabbi or covered with plastic. The fire appeared to have started on the exterior and HFD Arson and the ATF were contacted to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Crews from Stations 82, 2, 28, 68, 37, 48, 51, 60, Rescue 10 and 24 responded to this incident.
