It was just before midnight on 7/19/17, District 34 responded to a reported house fire with citizens trapped. The fire was confirmed to be at 6107 Bending Oaks. The first arriving unit, Engine 56, reported that fire coming from the first and second floor of a two-story residence. One female resident managed to escape from the home. After a knockdown of the fire and primary search on the first floor, the crews made their way to the second floor. Engine 34 and Ladder 56 breached a wall on the second floor and made their way into a bedroom where they found a fire victim. The victim was a black male approximately 50 to 60 years of age and was determined to be deceased. The victim is believed to be the brother of the female who was outside the residence when crews arrived. The firefighters reported that forcible entry was required to enter the residence but this did not cause any major delays. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Houston Arson Bureau.
