Firefighters arrived on scene to find light smoke coming from a house and upon investigation found a bedroom with a closed door and heavy soot around the door frame. They began an offensive attack and conducted a primary search. Crews checked for extension and extinguished the fire. The fire was found to have started at a multi outlet portable electrical surge protector. Damage was contained to the surge protector and area around it. Although smoke filled the home, there was no structural damage to the house and the residents were advised to have a certified electrician inspect the home before turning the power back on. One firefighter injured their ankle while investigating the attic for fire and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Crews from Stations 70, 71, 72, 93 and 94 responded to this incident.
