Firefighters arrived on scene to find a fire from a structure behind a house being used as a small home. They began an attack on the fire which also spread to a nearby fence. Once the fire was extinguished it was determined that a freezer which had been plugged into a power strip had been smoking prior to the fire. Neighbors stated they heard a loud pop which was believed to be the freezer. Crews offered to contact the American Red Cross for the resident who declined. The scene was turned over to the owner after overhaul. Firefighters from Stations 12, 15, 30 and 31 responded to this incident.
