HFD Hazardous Material Response Team along with other HFD from the Kingwood area responded to an oil spill in the Kingwood area at West Fork San Jacinto River.

Landscaping crew struck a 2” pipe and residual oil from the line spilled into the river causing an approximate 200 ft. sheen on the water.
HFD Hazardous Material Response Team managed to get the pipe shut down preventing further spillage. The owner of the pipe is using a private environmental cleanup company to conduct remediation. HFD Hazardous Material Team cleared the scene at 12:50 p.m.
