Gas Station / Convenience Store  Fire in Greater Third Ward
WHAT:
Gas station / convenience store fire
WHEN:
November 4, 2018 at 9:31 p.m.
WHERE:
3033 Elgin St, 77004
INJURIES:
No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED:
$210 thousand in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE:
$40 thousand in estimated damage.
CAUSE:
Failure of Equipment or Heat Source.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Firefighters arrived on scene and found smoke coming from a one-story gas station. The fire appeared to be in the rear of a small convenience store at the gas station. Firefighters turned off the utilities and checked the roof deciding no roof ventilation was needed. The fire was extinguished and it was determined the fire had started in a soda fountain machine. Crews from Stations 7, 8, and 24 responded to this incident.
