Report of Fall with extrication needed
WHEN:
Today, July 29, 2019 at 9:25 a.m.

INJURIES:
Two civilian worker fatalities
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a fall with extrication needed and arrived on scene to find two individuals deceased inside a hydro-seeding spreader truck. Contracted workers were preparing to use the spreader when one opened the a hatch and was overcome by the fumes. He fell inside and another worker attempted to assist him and was also overcome by the fumes. A third worker called 9-1-1. HFD requested the Medical Examiner, OSHA, HISD Police and HPD. Hazmat took readings and reported the air quality was clear. HFD Cleared the scene just after 1 p.m. with crews from Stations 17, 28, 24, 33, 37,69, 82, 60, Hazmat, Heavy Rescue 11, 51, Rescue 10 and Rescue 42 responding to this incident.
