Elementary School Fire in Eldridge / West Oaks Area

The cause was ruled accidental by HFD Arson investigators

Firefighters arrived on scene with no visible smoke or fire coming from an elementary school. They were greeted by the principal and ISD police at the front door. A smoke detector alerted the handful of staff still in the building and all had safely exited the school. As the crews made their way through the main hallway, they encountered fire rolling out above a door through broken glass of a counselor's / kitchen room. Heavy smoke had began to bank down from the ceiling. A primary search was completed and the fire was extinguished. Firefighters checked for hotspots and used fans to ventilate the school. Crews from Stations 69, 78, 83, 17, 75, 76 and 57 responded to this incident.
