Building Collapse with People Trapped in Near-Northside Area

9 civilian workers transported to area hospitals

Firefighters arrived on scene to find a multiple-story commercial structure under construction with the top floor suffering a partial collapse of the roof. There were workers on the top of the slap when it failed and all workers on that floor had self-evacuated with no one reported missing. Two patients were located on the 5th floor and were rescued with a stokes basket. HFD Heavy Rescue checked for additional trapped workers and declared an all-clear. The last HFD unit cleared the scene at 11:40 a.m. with crews from Stations 6, 8, 9, 12, 15, 17, 19, 16, 30, 33, Hazmat, and Heavy Rescue 11 responding to the scene.
