Apartment Unit fire in Houston/ Clear Lake Area

Kitchen fire in one apartment unit

CAUSE:
Cooking oil left on stove
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Crews from Engine 94 arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the first floor unit of a three floor apartment building. The kitchen fire had been extinguished by apartment maintenance personnel and pets were removed from the unit. Engine 94 and Ladder 71 checked the unit for fire extension and performed salvage and overhaul. One dog was breathing but unresponsive. Oxygen was administered with doggy mask and dog responded after thirty minutes. HFD assisted pet and owner to the vet clinic for treatment. Occupant stated oil was left on stove accidentally.
