Originally dispatched to an automatic alarm, firefighters from Station 83 upgraded the call to an apartment fire while en route. Upon arrival they found smoke coming from a second floor apartment unit. The fire was quickly knocked down and crews checked for fire extension. The apartment was ventilated and crews assisted in removing the water from the unit. The unit suffered smoke damage, limited water and sheetrock damage. A small dog was recovered from a kennel and was given oxygen. The dog, initially unconscious, regained consciousness and appeared to recover. Firefighters from Station 83, 10, 69, 75 and 57 responded to this incident.
