Apartment Fire in Westchase Area

No reported injuries, however one resident was evaluated on scene.

CAUSE:
HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Firefighters arrived on scene and found smoke coming from the first floor of a 3-story apartment building. They began an offensive attack on the fire and conducted a primary search. The fire was found in a small dumpster of the trash chute for the building.

Crews checked for extension on the second and third floors and the utilities were shut off. A resident was found on a second floor balcony requesting rescue due to smoke in the hallway. Firefighters used a ground letter and helped the resident down and evaluated on scene by HFD EMS crews.

The fire was extinguished and the smoke was ventilated from the building. There was some fire extension up to the second floor and down the first floor hallway with the fire appearing to have started in or near the small dumpster. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Crews from Stations 68, 10, 69, 75, 83 and 57 responded to this incident.
