CAUSE:
Failure of equipment or heat source
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Firefighters arrived on scene with light smoke coming from a 3-story apartment building. Heavier smoke was found inside one apartment unit. A fire was located between the first and second floor near the A/C unit. Crews worked to extinguish the fire while a primary search was completed. The fire appeared to have started with an electrical short in the A/C unit extending to the floor joists. The ceiling was pulled to extinguish the fire. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist residents from two units. Firefighters from Stations 8, 6, 11, 16 and 30 responded to this incident.
