Apartment Fire in The Greater Greenspoint Area

Firefighters arrived on scene with light smoke coming from a 2-story apartment building. A small kitchen fire was found inside a unit and crews extinguished the fire with a water/pump can. The fire started on the stove and traveled to the cabinets next to the stove. A resident had left the stove on and then fell asleep. Crews checked for extension and found none. The smoke was removed from the apartment of origin and from the unit below it. The power to the building was turned off and it was recommended that the building maintenance or an electrician check the building before restoring the power. Crews from Stations 64, 58, 74 and 84 responded to this incident.
