As firefighters were responding to the reported fire, they noticed a smoke column in the area and arrived on scene to find a 2-story apartment building with fire and smoke coming from a ground floor window. Firefighters began an offensive attack on the fire and conducted searches of the nearby units. The unit on fire was searched. The occupants had been alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm and safely made it outside. The fire was contained to the unit of origin. Firefighters from Stations 5, 4, 50, 66, 77, 62 and 17 responded to this incident.
