Apartment Fire in Spring Branch Central Area
WHAT:
Apartment Fire
WHEN:
December 31, 2018 at 2:09 a.m.
WHERE:
8950 Hammerly Blvd, 77080
INJURIES:
1 civilian transported for non-life threating reason
PROPERTY SAVED:
$5.6 million in estimated property saved
DAMAGE:
$400 thousand in estimated damage
CAUSE:
The cause was ruled as accidental by HFD Arson investigators.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Firefighters arrived on scene to find a 3-story residential building with no smoke or fire showing. A fire appeared to have started around a bed in the living area of one unit and was extinguished by the building's sprinkler system. Crews assisted with evacuating the residents and ventiled the smoke from the building. The residents were able to congregate safely in the dining hall and the American Red Cross was requested to assist.  After Arson investigators completed their investigation, firefighters conducted salvage and overhaul. Firefighters from Stations 5, 4, 38, 49, 50, 77, 50, 57 and the Village Fire Department responded to this incident.
