Apartment Fire in Southwest Houston

Terza West Apartments - 10222 Forum West Dr, 77036
INJURIES:
No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED:
$425 thousand in estimated property saved with firefighters protecting the neighboring apartment buildings from fire.
DAMAGE:
$350 thousand in estimated damage.
CAUSE:
Unintentional due to abandoned or discarded hot ember or ash on an exterior balcony.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
HFD responded to multiple calls to 9-1-1 for an apartment fire and  arrived to find a 3-story apartment building with fire coming through the roof. Crews from Stations 10, 48, 51, 57, 68, 73, 82 and 83 responded and the fire was declared under control at 7:36 p.m.  Members of Rescue 10 evaluated the stability of the building. Balconies on the second and third floors were deemed too dangerous and a collapse hazard.  The utilities were secured and the American Red Cross was on scene to assist the residents.
