Apartment Fire in Neartown / Midtown Area of Houston
WHAT:
Apartment Fire
WHEN:
July 15, 2018 at 9:02 p.m.
WHERE:

INJURIES:
No reported injuries
PROPERTY SAVED:
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the roof
DAMAGE:
Smoke damage to the 8th floor with water damage to one unit.
CAUSE:
The cause was ruled accidental by HFD Arson Investigators.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Firefighters arrived on scene with no smoke or fire showing from an 8-story apartment complex. Smoke was on the 8th floor and a fire was found on the roof where residents had lit a sky lantern that accidently caught the roof on fire. The fire was quickly controlled and the gas valves to the roof and sprinkler system to the 8th floor were shut down.

Firefighters also conducted a primary search of the 8th floor. Crews from Stations 16, 19, 31. 8, 3, 11, 25, 33, 37, 6, 15, 24, and 30 responded to this incident.
