Firefighters arrived on scene to find light smoke coming from a single story building in an apartment complex. A small fire was found inside the community laundry room. The fire was extinguished without incident and the crews opened up the walls to check for extension. Fire appeared to have started from an electrical or mechanical failure in the bottom of a washing machine. The room suffered from significant smoke and heat damage. Firefighters helped ventilate the smoke and informed the maintenance worker that the power should be turned off to the room until a certified electrician could inspect it. Crews from Stations 84 and 64 responded to this incident.
