Apartment Fire in Astrodome Area of Houston

Firefighters from Station 33 arrived on scene with no sign of smoke or fire showing. Upon entering an apartment unit, they encountered black smoke with fire showing in the back of the room on a stove. The plastic on the control panel was on fire and was spreading into the vent and overhead microwave. The crew extinguished the fire and opened the windows and doors to help clear out the smoke. They removed the stove and microwave and checked for extension of the fire. No additional fire was found and after the smoke was cleared they turned the apartment over to the occupant and management.
