3-Alarm Townhome Fire in Neartown-Montrose Area
WHAT:
3-Alarm Townhome Fire
WHEN:
April 28, 2019 at 12:46 a.m.
WHERE:
1500 block of Michigan St, 77006
INJURIES:
1 firefighter transported to the hospital with a moderate injury.
PROPERTY SAVED:
$500 thousand in estimated property saved
DAMAGE:
$100 thousand in estimated damage
CAUSE:
The cause is under investigation by HFD Arson investigators.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Firefighters arrived on scene to find a 4-story townhome fully involved in fire. Heavy embers were reported and crews worked to protect the nearby structures as they attacked the fire. A primary search was completed on the townhome and of the two adjacent buildings.  A Mayday was called from a partial collapse and an HFD Captain was injured. The fire was declared under control and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. Neighborhood Protection was also requested. Crews from Stations 16, 8, 19, 20, 31, 3, 6, 11, 17, 7, 21, 30 and Hazmat responded to this incident.
